Kenroku-en ~ International Exchange Salon ~ Nata-dera ~ Sea of Japan Coast ~ Explorations
Kanazawa is located near the Sea of Japan coastline of central Honshu, near Noto-hanto (peninsula). The Kanazawa region was ruled in relative peace by the Maeda family for almost 300 years, from the 1500s to the 1800s, while the rest of Japan was unstable. The Maeda family built several buildings and lived at Nata-dera in the 1600s and built a villa near Kenroku-en in 1863. We went on several excursions around Kanazawa and also had time to explore on our own or in small groups. The old and the new is mixed together here in an interesting manner.
