Gojo Shrine ~ Great Buddhist
Pagoda ~ Tokyo National Museum

Gojo Shrine
This is an Inari-jinja, a Shinto shrine
dedicated to Inari, the God of Rice. Foxes are Inari's messengers, so they are
always found at Inari shrines.

Tokyo National Museum
The Tokyo National Museum is a wonderful treasure-house. There are six main
buildings with the Honkan as the centerpiece. The Honkan covers Japanese art
and includes ceramics, textiles, armor, sculpture, metalwork, woodblock prints,
and books, along with Ainu art and art from the Ryukyu Islands. The ceramics
room features art from the Momoyama and Edo periods. The Toyokan houses Asian
art. The Gallery of Horyuji Treasures holds artifacts from Horyu-ji in Nara.
