This course is designed to present an overview of human cultures and the many remarkable ways in which humans adapt to their environment. The course includes sections on languages, archeology, ancient history and modern cultures, with an emphasis on living traditional cultures. Advisory: ENGL 1001 or concurrent enrollment in ENGL 1001.

Students enrolling in this course must have Internet access and know how to use e-mail. Check the COS online course website at prior to the first day of the sememster for specific course information.

Make sure you obtain your textbook and DVD early so you have them when the course begins.  The required textbook is Cultural Anthropology: The Human Challenge, 12th edition by Haviland/Prins/Walrath/McBride and the required DVD is Cultural Anthropology: Our Diverse World.  This DVD set can be purchased from the COS bookstore or directly from Coast Learning Systems— Order Form
