History 1008 examines women's diverse historical experiences in the United States from the colonial era to the present. Topics include: Women's contributions to political thought and social movements; the use of gender in historical analysis; the notion of "woman's sphere"; the nature of women's interactions across class and race--conflict or cooperation; varieties of feminism. (AA, CSU, UC)
