The following course
identifiers will have the Dean of CTE functioning as their department chair:
AG, CCT, CRA, EDUC, FCS, MFG, WEE
Department/Program Chair Duties:
1.
Conduct department meetings;
attend regular meetings with the Division
Dean, attend other District meetings as determined by department guidelines
and the Division Dean.
2.
Consult with the Division Dean regarding
the planning and
administration of the Department’s operational budget.
3.
Provide leadership in the evaluation of offered courses; work collaboratively
with the Division Dean and other departments to design class
schedules to meet the learning
needs of students and to ensure that
facilities are used to their potential;
provide consultation to the Division
Dean in scheduling courses at off-campus sites.
4.
Conduct interviews of prospective adjunct
faculty in collaboration with the Division
Dean; make adjunct hiring recommendations to the Division Dean;
make recommendations to the College
Equivalency Committee.
5.
Participate as a required member
of a tenure-track hiring committee consistent with District hiring
policies.
6.
Assist in coordinating program
review and discipline assessment
within the Department in accordance with the timelines
specified by District policy.
7.
Facilitate innovation in the curriculum; encourage department faculty to author new course
proposals, course modifications, facilities upgrades, and/or grant proposals.
8.
Supervise the activities of Instructional Technicians in the department.
9.
Provide oversight for building management, if appropriate (e.g., Ford Theatre, Gym, or new building
construction)
10.
Perform related duties as required and agreed to by the
department.
