Policy Statement

Those retired faculty who have made outstanding contributions to College of the Siskiyous be eligible to receive the title Emeritus Faculty in recognition of those extraordinary achievements.

 

Policy Elements

I.             Qualifications

A.  Have a minimum of 15 years of service.

B.  Have been retired from fulltime faculty duty for at least one academic year prior to the nomination.

C.  Limited to those individuals who, upon leaving full-time employment with the District, do not continue to work full-time in the field of public education.

D.  The senate will forward its recommendations to the President’s office.

E.   The Board of Trustees will consider the recommendations of the Academic Senate and the President; positive action by the Board will confer emeritus status.

F.  The Board delegates to the Superintendent/President working with the Academic Senate the authority to establish procedures for selection.

 

II.          Benefits and Burdens

A.          Individuals designated as emeritus to College of the Siskiyous will:

1.  Be awarded appropriate recognition of “Emeritus Status” upon its original receipt at the next graduation exercise

2.  Have the award announced to the community via radio and print media

3.  Receive a plaque indicating the recognition

4.  Have a photograph, brief history, and description of the contributions made to the College of the Siskiyous displayed in an appropriate location on campus.

5.  Be listed as emeritus faculty in the College of the Siskiyous catalog
