PEMA 35 Athletic
Injury Management and Rehabilitation:
This course is designed to introduce the basic concepts
of athletic related injuries. Content will cover fundamental anatomy,
fundamental injury, and assessment, prevention, and care of athletic injuries.

PEMA
36 Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries Lab:
Laboratory class designed to give the students hands-on
practice of evaluating injuries. This course also covers preventative
taping techniques used in Athletic Training.

PEMA 38 Athletic Emergencies,
Safety, and Prevention:
This course is designed to prepare the student to handle basic health
care needs within sports. The course will cover a variety of taping
and wrapping techniques used in athletic competition. Upon completion
of this course the student will also receive certification by the American
Red Cross in First Aid and Adult CPR. There will be an additional $5
charge for your American Red Cross certification card.

PEMA 39 Certified Personal Trainer
This course will introduce the student to human biomechanics, and fuctional anatomy and physiology of exercise. This course provides the overview of how to assess cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body fat, pulmonary function and blood pressure and evaluate the results. The course is designed for students interested in a career in the fitness industry or for those students interested in furthering their understanding the effects of exercise on the mind and body. This is a preparation course for the National Consol on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) Personal Trainer board Examination and certification.

BIO 1 Principles
of Biology
A study of the principles of life processes in all organisms.
A consideration of cellular structure and function, energy relationships,
level of organization, development and differentiation, inheritance,
evolution, and ecology. For science majors. Support hour.

Biology
A general education course designed for non-biology
majors and pre-health related fields. Provides an introduction to basic
biological concepts, human body functions, genetics, and man's place
in nature. Support hour.

Human Anatomy
A systems approach to the study of the human body from
the microscopic level of organization to the gross level. Fulfills requirements
for nursing, physical education, and allied health programs.

physiological principles and the integration of body systems in maintaining

This course covers medical terms as related to specific
body systems and is designed for pre-nursing students, health care clerical

The function of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins,
and minerals required by the body and their relation to health is studied
along with a study of digestion, absorption of food, endocrine glands,
