How do I become an Certified Athletic Trainer?
Currently the only way to become a Certified Athletic Trainer
is to complete a CAAHEP Athletic Training program. There are both
Undergraduate and Graduate programs available for interested Student
Athletic Trainers. Here at College of the Siskiyous we offer two
ways for students to get their feet wet in Athletic Training.
We offer PEMA 35 Athletic Injury Management and Rehabilitation.
This course offers students a general introduction to the anatomy,
physiology, tissue healing process, and injuries commonly associated
with sports. We also offer PEMA 36 Care and Prevention of Athletic
Injuries Lab. This lab style course covers all the hands on aspects
of Athletic Training. In the Fall we cover common taping and wrapping
techniques while also providing coverage of football games and
practices. In the Spring, the lab course covers assessment techniques,
therapeutic modalities, and therapeutic exercises.
