Eagles drop three to Feather River

WEED – The College of the Siskiyous Eagles hosted a three game series on Friday and Saturday, against Golden Valley Conference leader Feather River, dropping all three games.

In the first game, on Friday, both teams put up a run in the first inning, but Feather River exploded for seven runs in the second inning to take the lead 8-1. The score was 10-3, at the end of three innings. Feather River added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings. COS scored a run in the eighth to make the final 12-4. Feather River pounded out 22 hits, and COS had eight. (more…)

Lady Eagles sweep Lassen

The College of the Siskiyous Lady Eagles swooped into Susanville, and swept Lassen College, winning game-one, 8-0, and game-two, 15-1. Both were five inning games.

In game one, COS scored two runs in the second inning, three in the third, and three in the fifth inning. Stephanie Zwetschke led the offense, going 3-3, with three doubles, two runs, and four RBI. Katie Zauner was 2-3, with a dinger, a run, and three RBI. Laura Thorp went 2-3, with an RBI, and Ali Paz went 1-3 with two runs. Brie Melton got the start and the win on the mound (5IP, H, 4BB, 9K). Lady Eagles take Gold Bracket

The College of the Siskiyous Lady Eagles headed to Fremont this weekend for the March Madness softball tournament, and will return with the gilded prize.

COS went 1-2 on the first day, beating Diablo Valley 7-1, and Gavilan 10-2, while dropping their game against Napa Valley 6-4.

On day two, the Lady Eagles smoked San Jose City College 7-1, and shut out Diablo Valley 3-0, to reach the championship game against Sierra. COS only scored one run, but that was all they needed, blanking Sierra 1-0.

COS will be in double-header action against Lassen in Susanville on Wednesday, March 19, at noon and 2:00 pm.

Eagles rule Bash at Buchanan

Jackie Imhof pitched a compete game one hitter and Stephanie Zwetschke continued her sizzling hitting as the Eagles defeated Long Beach City College (16-7) in the championship game of the Bash at Buchanan this past weekend in Fresno.

Rebecca Geries takes Gold, Jon Villani gets Bronze

Mt. Shasta High School graduate Rebecca Geries is the National Collegiate Champion in Women’s Giant Slalom snowboard racing. Geries finished first in both of her runs, with a first run time of 1:12.96, the fastest run of the competition. Her second run was 1:26.19, for a combined total of 2:39.15, nearly 11 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

Lady Eagles B-ball heads to state finals

ROCKLIN – The College of the Siskiyous Lady Eagles basketball team defeated third seeded
Sierra (26-6), 56-54, last night in the second round of the North Regional for the California
Community College Women’s Basketball State Championships. The win propels the Lady Eagles
(25-6) into the state championship round-of-eight.

Lady Eagles pound Redwoods, 20-0

REDDING - The College of the Siskiyous Lady Eagles dominated the College of the Redwoods
in game one of a scheduled double-header, on Wednesday. Imhof pitched four innings of no-hit
ball, before giving way to Becca “Tweety” Anderson, who finished out the five inning
combined no-hitter for COS. Stephanie Zwetschke went 4-for-4 with two dingers,
and Katie Zauner added a long ball.

Johnson named to All GVC Team

WEED – College of the Siskiyous Eagle Roland Johnson has been named to the
All Golden Valley Conference 1st Team. Teammate Alden Gibbs received an honorable mention
and was named to the All-Defense Team 1st Team. The Eagles finished their season fifth
in the GVC at 3-7, and 9-20 overall.

Meyers named to All-State team

WEED - The College of the Siskiyous Lady Eagles (23-6) will host Solano this Saturday at 7:00 pm
for the first round of the California Community College Women's Basketball State Championships.
COS is seeded sixth in the North Region, and is a Golden Valley Conference co-champion (8-2).
Solano is the 11-seed and Bay Valley Conference champion (14-0, 21-11). (more.)
