Siskiyous Track and Field competed at one of the best facilities in the California this past weekend at Merritt, College in Oakland California. Temperatures and a fast track were ideal for fast times, and Siskiyous did not disappoint. Zach Stoner broke a 25 year old school record in the 400m with a time of 48.43, placing 2nd in the meet and firmly in 5th place in Nor-Cal. Stoner briefly rested and completed a tough double as he ran the 800m a little over an hour later in a time of 1:59.97.
Ty Lang re-asserted his top position in Nor-Cal in the 100m dash as he bested 5 of the top 10 in Nor-Cal sprinters with a time of 10.69, barely edging a Merritt contender by .01 seconds. In the 200m, Ty placed second with a time of 21.74. Stephen Dickinson set a new personal best in the 110 hurdles, and broke the 15 second barrier with a time of 14.93 to place 3rd in the meet. Stephen is currently 3rd in Nor-Cal in the 110 hurdles and will be competing in the Nor-Cal multi event Championships on April 20th and 21st at American River College in Sacramento. Donavon Cunningham had a strong day in the throws as he placed 3rd in the discus with a 151” 3” and set a new personal best in the javelin by nearly 20 feet with a mark of 151’ 4”.
On the women’s side, Katie Anderson had another career day as she ran a 13.26 in the 100m; a personal best by .14 seconds. Later in the afternoon, she set another lifetime best in the long jump with a 17’ 4.5” mark to place 3rd in a dense field of top Nor-Cal contenders. Katie is currently in 8th position in the latest Nor-Cal rankings. Joanna Beem also set a new personal and school record in the 3000m Steeplechase and broke the 13 minute barrier in the process with a 12:59.63.
On April 20th and 21st, Freshman Stephen Dickinson will be competing in the Northern California Multi Event Championships to be held at American River College.
