I have developed a new respect for the physicality of the Eagle women. I am very appreciative that the coaching staff and the girls have welcomed me back for the second quarter of the season with a substantial pay raise: my salary will be doubled from $0 to 2 X $0. Any sacrifices I have made have been worth being with the people at COS in beautiful Northern California away from the scathing desert heat of Arizona.

Women's basketball has been a lot of fun for a traditionally all boy's/men's coach. I never thought I would enjoy coaching the ladies as much as I have. They are talented, very coach-able, hard working, and bring a new level of humor to the gym each day. One of the pluses to working with Coach Powers and the ladies has been looking forward to a bit of a workout. This came to an abrupt halt when Karlee Myers caved in my ribs with a solid elbow shot during practice, putting me on the injured list.

Gabe's Garbage

A. Who has run the Game Clock for the Women's Basketball team for the last 20 years?

B. Who is the only COS coach in known history to hit a bear and run over a stake on the freeway, (puncturing the gas tank)?

Eagle Quiz

What are the Chances?

While most basketball coaches are busy getting ready for Christmas tounaments, Tom and his staff have been hard at work taste-testing root beers.

While recruiting starting center Karlee Myers from Chico, Tom found out her parents, Cliff and Terri, were opening a soda shop, (Old Town Root Beer in Chico), which has 50 different root beers.

Immediately the                               quest for the best                            root beer  began. Tom and the staff have tasted all 50 root beers, carefully narrowing them down to the FINAL 12!

When Powers was asked about the pressures of coaching he replied, "Close games can get to you, but choosing the final root beer may be the toughest decision of the year!".

IT'S A BABY GIRL!!! That's right, long ago
men's and women's Assistant Coach, Gary
"Go-man" Edlund (49) is the proud father of
Paige "Go-girl" Edlund. That he's having his
first child is hard to believe, but what are the
chances of there actually being someone to
marry him!?!?!

Congratulations from all the Staff!

Results will follow next month.
