Karlee Myers is the other half of the Dynamic Chico Duo, (with Kristi Arness), that left their Section Championship high school team to add their firing poser to the Siskiyous squad. Her senior year, Karlee was named first team All Section among other honors. This year she is averaging 1.6.ppg and 6.8 rpg. Her 38 point game against Skyline CC was just six points shy of breaking the COS Women's Basketball record. Though slightly undersized compared to other posts in the conference, Karlee is a
wrecking crew in the paint. Her ability to shoot the three from the top of the key and to go through the arms inside makes her game a good fit for the team's primary offense this year. Teamed up with Katie Pollak these two girls have been giving coache3s defensive headaches all season long!
Eagle Quiz Answers: Mike Smith ('91), Robyn Parker ('92), Chris Holland ('92), Byron McLane ('02)
Hailing from Yuba City, Chelsea Kuehner joined the Siskiyous Eagles last year to help them steal their first Conference title since 1999. Chelsea's 154 steals in the season set the school record and placed her top in the state. Chelsea is a one person pressing brigade and is one of the fastest players Coach Powers has ever coached. She was named to the All Freshmen Team for 06/07. As an enthusiastic baseball fan, Chelsea follows the A's fanatically and after basketball season will be seen helping the Eagle's baseball team in the outfit of a trainer. As an athletic trainer in training Chelsea is quick on her feet and in the class room; her teachers say that she is a joy to teach. Like most of our sophomores Chelsea isn't quite sure of her plans for next year but current polls suggest she may head east.
California to New Zealand. . .was COS what Amanda "Z" Harris expected?
Well. . .the ocean is the same, (though we found out that the Pacific is much colder on this side of this world), and New Zealand's pine trees come from Oregon - Literally: there's no native pine in NZ! From beaches to trees, lakes and mountains, California shares many things with Z's native island home. But it's also a whole new world!
When first driven through San Francisco, Z asked, " Where do all the roads go? What are all these lanes for?". The largest "motor way" in NZ was four lanes across, (though they've just widened it to 6), and that ends miles out of the urban area of Auckland, switching into two lane country roads for most of the island. Amanda on California: "I won't eat the yogurt here and the licorice isn't even comparable". Well. . .I can verify the fact that the cows must be even happier in New Zealand than our California cows as I couldn't get enough of their cheeses myself while I was living there. Maybe the cows are happier
because they have so many sheep to be friends with. You should have seen Z's face light-up when we drove by a field of sheep the other day. "Sheep!!!" It is true that it's hard to drive more than five miles in NZ without seeing a field of sheep. There are 15 sheep for every one person in NZ. If the same number of sheep lived in California there would be just under two sheep for every person! In spite of our sheep shortage, Amanda says, "COS is good. . .I don't think I've ever laughed so much in my life! I don't like the snow, I thought California was supposed to be hot, but: I quite like it where I am!".
