Leaves: Three oblong leaflets. However, a pair of leaf-like stipules gives the appearance of a five leaflet leaf.

Height: 1/2 to 2 feet

Found: Common in many locales, especially disturbed areas

Tidbits: The spreading, slender pods resemble a bird's foot, hence the name.
