What if my answers are incorrect?
If you find that some of your answers don't match these, congratulations—you are about to learn from your mistakes.

Probably, what you need to work on is reviewing the formulas for finding adjectives and adverbs.  See in the exercises how the formulas work.  If you are looking for adjectives, find the nouns and then ask yourself "What kind?  Which one?  How many?"  The words that anser those questions will be adjectives.  If you are looking for adverbs, find the verbs and then ask yourself "When?  Where?  How?  To what degree?"  The words that anser those questions will be adverbs

  1. Martha's job requires patience and skill.  She is a patient negotiator.
  2. All through high school, Jeremy rebelled against his parents and his teachers.  Now he has three rebellious children of his own.
  3. Your suggestion makes a great deal of sense.  You have a very sensible idea.
  4. Professor Legree views students only as an irritation.  He is a very peevish and irritable old man.
  5. The parson was scandalized by Merdine's singing and dancing.  He thought her behavior was scandalous.
  6. Telling jokes that will not offend others is difficult.  Some comedians are deliberately offensive.

  5. I ordered a manual transmission.  Are the windows operated manually?
