Should
include name, contact information, course of study, work history, reason for
taking course, etc etc etc….
These will
incorporate 2-3 questions regarding the week’s reading material, and should be
used to achieve written discussion/participation points. Again, participation of substance is expected
5 out of 7 days/week, and can include both responses to discussion questions as
well as responses to other participant postings.
Find online
a website of interest, indicating website address, reason for choice, and highlights
of the site as it relates to the subject of marketing.
This is to
be a reflection of what knowledge and tools you have added to your skill set
this week; i.e. what I have learned, and how I can apply it going forward.
Select and
review an article from a current business or marketing publication on the
subject of the indicated week’s reading material. prepare a 1 page review, including a brief
description, personal analysis and specific comments on the application of the
article. Journal reviews will provide a
basis for additional discussion, and you should read and comment on the reviews
of fellow students.
This
project requires you to prepare a product portfolio on any product or product
line. Conduct an interview(s) with a
knowledgeable individual from any organization’s marketing department for an
overview of the marketing program:
primary customers, competition’s customers, company’s strengths and
weaknesses, what customers buy and why, what the company’s competitive
advantage is, how the company stands up against the competition,
recommendations for change, etc.
Discuss
three forecasting methods commonly used to determine market potential and
future demand. Length: 1-2 pages.
The
following components must be included:
•
Define
the central issue
•
Select
pertinent areas for consideration
•
Analyze
the considerations and determine their relative importance
•
Investigate
other possibilities
•
Critique
what was done, draw final conclusions, and make recommendations.
Case studies:
1. Chapter 5, page 131 – Shoppers Beat
a Path…
2. Chapter 7, page 193 – Using
Marketing Research…
3. Chapter 14, page 405 – Zero-Percent
Financing…
Develop a
1-page paper on your personal code of marketing ethics as it relates to what
you have learned throughout the course.
Be prepared to discuss your paper and to comment on the papers of your
classmates.
The
objective here is to acquaint you with marketing dynamics, strategies, and
issues facing firms to gain an effective understanding and to experience
marketing dynamics. Appendix A in the
text provides an example.
I will
assign study groups at the beginning of week 2.
Examples of organizations that you might choose from include: a college, a hospital, a restaurant
franchise, a microbrewery, a sports team, advertising agency, movie theater,
cement company, photo processing company, coffee kiosk, etc etc etc . There can be no duplicates within the groups,
the organization can be an existing organization or a new creation, and
finally, the organization must be approved by me. You will need to prepare a basic
outline showing the scope of the assignment, assigning group member
responsibilities, establishing group member roles, and method of collecting
data. Work this out within your
respective study group rooms. Post your
organizations of choice to the main Discussion room so that the others know
what has been chosen.
Will be
true/false and multiple choice – 50 questions, 1 point each.
This is to
be a reflection of what knowledge and tools you have added to your skill set
this semester; i.e. what key concepts have I learned, and how I can apply them
going forward.
Not
required, but I would appreciate any feedback on the course: What could be done differently, what you
liked, disliked about the course, and anything else you feel would benefit the
course for the future.
