Course Logistics

This course meets in Room 8 of the Yreka campus, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM for six Wednesdays, from October 29, through December 10, 2003. There is no class on November 26th for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday (the COS campus closes at 5:00 pm on that date).

Course Objectives
This course provides further study and application of advanced topics using the QuickBooks Pro® accounting software program.  Topics include payroll reporting, estimating, progress billing, inventory, budgeting, closing procedures, audit trail, and exporting data. 
 

Recommended Text
Any QuickBooks Pro® 2003 reference book. Earlier versions may also be used if that is what you are currently using.
 

Course Requirements

  1. Exercises - Skill Demonstration                             80% 
    • There are a total of five (5) exercises to be completed and turned in with appropriate reports, documents and/or graphs.  Each exercise is worth 20 points.  To receive credit for this class, students must achieve at least 70 out of the possible 100 points.  See the course schedule for details and due dates.

  2. Participation                                                             20% 
    • Active and informed class participation is important in a class of this nature where discussions will contribute to each student’s understanding and practice of the subject matter.  Class credit will be given to students who participate in class in an informed, respectful and attentive manner.



Course Policies and Other Information

Late Assignments - Students are expected to complete  the assignments as directed in the class schedule.   Late assignments may be graded downward. 

Unacceptable Work - Plagiarism in any assignment is unacceptable. If it is determined that two or more students have submitted the same work, all students will receive 0 points for that assignment and may be considered for dismissal from the class.

Assistance - Any student whose disabilities require additional assistance should notify the instructor immediately. 

Withdrawal policy – The COS withdrawal policy can be found in the current course catalog.  If you wish to withdraw from the class you must file the appropriate forms.  Check the academic calendar for important dates, such as the last day to drop a course without penalty.

Incomplete policy – The COS incomplete policy can be found in the current course catalog.  Incompletes will be given only under the circumstances stated in that policy.
