Principles of Biology : Laboratory
Lab 10 : Meiosis
Theme: Look at the theme I gave
you in Lab 7 and write a similar, short, concise theme for this
lab.
Materials and Methods: "Biology
Lab Manual" by The College Board, 2001. <cite correct page
numbers>
Note: Class data for the Sordaria calculation is available at
www.siskiyious.edu/class/bio1/lab10/sordaria.xls.
Results: Present class data
here. And, refer to the lab book for your individual numbers and
calculations.
Analysis and Conclusion Section :
You may say "See lab book page for the analysis and conclusions."
Calculate the tan map distance with your own numbers as directed in #1,
page 44. But also, present the class Sordaria calculation for the tan
mutant gene distance to the centromere in your narrative. The
calculations are the "analysis" not the data. The data would just be
the microsope counts. How does your personal map distance compare to
that of the class data? Did you overestimate the class data or
underestimate it? What causes this to happen?
Please complete all questions in the lab book for pages 35-44 (the
Meiosis section of Lab 3).
