Principles of Biology : Laboratory
Lab 5 : Diffusion, Osmosis and Dialysis
- See Lab 1 or Lab 2 for instructions on writing the lab reports
and for the lab report template.
- The data sheets for this lab are in the lab book. You are
responsible for all of sections 1A, 1C, 1D and 1E. Since answering the
questions in the book are partly analysis, the analysis and conclusions
section of your report will be shorter than usual. I do want you
to write up a standard lab report in other regards.
- Notice that I wrote the theme and the way you should cite the Lab
Book for this experiement in the Materials and Methods section.
Theme: This lab explored diffusion, osmosis and dialysis
Materials and Methods: "Biology Lab Manual" by The College Board, 2001.
pages 1-18.
Analysis and Conclusion Section
1. Refer to the lab book pages just like in the Materials and Methods.
2. What is "water potential?"
3. Why is it a useful concept?
Note:
Please turn in your whole lab book. Just put your lab report at the
beginning of the lab. Make sure your name is on your book (and your
paper, of course). Notice, this lab is not due until Monday, Sept. 29, but there are questions on Quiz 5 concerning this lab.
