Documents and Class Notes will be posted in this area.

As part of this course you will submit a written case based on research you will do on the web, from online discussions, as well as from your readings. You will submit the paper by midnight Friday, October 17th. You must submit the paper by email to the instructor. A template will be provided to use in submitting this work with instructions on what is expected. We will have time during the week of October 12th to the 17th to complete the paper. I highly encourage you to start this project early and utilize the Writing Lab on the Weed COS campus. Sample Paper.

The written case can be found on page WEB 66-67 of your book. The title is "Case Problem 2 - Northwest Community College."

I have entered the case here for your reference and review:

Case Problem 2 - Northwest Community College

Research - Compare the strengths and weaknesses of four Web browsers, indenting beneficial features that could be included in fu true Web browsers, and recommend a specific Web browser for a company.

Northwest Community College Your employer, Northwest Community College, is a medium-sized school that prepares students for direct entry in the workforce and for future academic studies. The school has increased it use of computers in all of its office operations. Many of Norwest's computers currently rn either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Firefox; however, the administrative vice-president (AVP) has decided that the school should support only one browser to save money on user training and computer support personnel costs. The AVP has heard some good things about two other browsers: iRider and Opera. The AVP is wondering whether one of those browsers might be the right product for the school. As the AVP's special assist nat, you have been asked to recommend which of these four Web browsers the school should choose to support. You will research the browsers for your report by completing the following steps.

  1. Start your Web browser, open the Student Online Companion page at www.course.com/newperspectives/internet6, click the Tutorial 1 link, and then click the Case Problem 2 link.
  2. Use the Northwest Community College hyperlinks to learn more about these four Web browsers.
  3. Write a two-page memo to the AVP (to submit to your instructor) that outlines the strengths and weaknesses of each product. Recommend one Web browser program and support your decision using the information you collected.
  4. Prepare a list of features that you would like to see in a new Web browser software package that would overcome important limitations in Firefox, Internet Explorer, iRider, or Opera. Do you think is would be feasible for a firm to develop and use such a product? Why or why not?
  5. Close your Web browser.
