Welcome!

Welcome to the class introduction page for Web Publishing II, CSCI 28B. This page refers to the class being held in the Spring 2008 semester in Greenshields Hall 3/4. Please read the following information and contact the instructor via email David Donica (donica@siskiyous.edu) if you have any questions. You can expect an email response within 48 hours during the semester. Make sure you use a descriptive subject line for your email so it doesn't get accidentally deleted as spam.

Class begins on Thursday, January 17th, 2008 and ends on Thursday, May 22nd, 2008. The class will meet from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. See the Calendar page for the most current schedule of this course.

Course Objectives ~ Student Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course you should be able to:

  • Construct web pages utilizing JavaScript
  • Construct and maintain web pages using Cascading Style Sheets
  • Understand the difference between different implementations of HTML
  • Understand and utilize Java technology
  • Evaluate web pages on the application of web technologies

Course Information

  • Course prerequisites & recommendations:
    There is no required prerequisite, but you should have some computer experience in order to succeed in this class.
  • Course requirements and grading:
    This will be discussed in more detail in the Syllabus. If you have any questions, please email the instructor David Donica, donica@siskiyous.edu. In general, there are exercises to be completed each week, a multi-page web project due at the end of the semester, and a final exam to be taken the last week of the semester.
  • Time Expectations:
    Expect to spend approximately eight hours per week over the entire semester. This will inculde 3 hours in the classroom and approximately 5 hours outside the classroom. You will be required to participate each week, you will not be able to complete the entire course in the last few weeks. This is not an independent-study class. Lecture notes and assignments will be posted each week. You will have to submit your work each week if you want to pass the course. Plan to be online at least twice per week to get up to date information about the lectures, assignments, and Calendar schedule.
