Reasons to Start YOUR Engineering Education
at College of the Siskiyous

  •  Small Class Sizes: Would you be more likely to thrive and succeed as you make the transition to college in a small personal environment or in a large impersonal environment? The average class size for the Engineering and Physics classes is 3 to 12 students at COS. Compare this to a University where those classes hold 40 to over 100! At COS if you have a question, it will be answered. The Engineering and Physics department also sponsors student study groups.
  • Great Education: We have just completed a remodeling of the Engineering and Physics classroom/labs with the use of state-of-the-art technology including: student computer stations, instructor multimedia instruction station (computer, VCR, videodisk, projection system), computerized data acquisition, computer simulation, computerized mathematical modeling and animation, video capture and computer analysis.
  • In our Engineering and Physics classes we strive to make learning an active and engaging process by involving the student in the learning process. On a Conceptual Physics exam given to physics students around the US, the COS Physics 4A class average was 93% as compared to an average of 24% for physics students at a typical university! We take pride in providing our students with a high quality education and preparing them to succeed upon transfer to a four-year school.

College of the Siskiyous offers general education and lower division major courses needed to transfer to a Bachelor degree program in engineering. COS engineering courses include:

  • Introduction to Engineering (ENGR 10)
  • Engineering Graphics and Descriptive Geometry (ENGR 4)
  • Introduction to Circuit Analysis (ENGR 17)
  • Mechhanics for Engineers-Statics (ENGR 35)

The following lower division major courses are also offered at COS:

  • Calculus/Analytic Geometry/ I, II, III Principals of Biology/Differential Equations/Linear Algebra/ General Chemistry I, II/Mechanical Physics, Oscillations & Waves/Microbiology/Electrical Physics, Light/ Physical Geology/Heat, Modern, & Quantum Physics/ Computer Programming...Schedule of Classes
