• First, listen to my short weekly audio lecture. You can listen to the lecture in either Real Audio format or you can listen to the lecture in Windows Media format.
• Next, explore the following links:
  • Read a few of the Grimm's Fairy Tales   and visit a comprehensive site on the Grimms. As you read these versions, you might compare them to the versions you remember being told.
  • Visit the Cinderella Project --an archive of 12 English language versions of the popular story. Be sure to at least understand the basic motifs found in the Cinderella tale type.
  • You can also also visit the Jack and the Beanstalk Project   and the Little Red Riding Hood Project     
    
  • A great site on Snow White
  • Read a few of Aesop's Fables
  • Read my brief observations on fairy tales  and please visit a great site that has 35 annotated fairy tales and a wealth of background information about fairy tales
    
  • Visit a site that has numerous links to all types of folktales (and type-index numbers)
• Your third Collection Sheet is due by end of the week. Review collection sheet examples before doing assignment. Instead of doing the 3rd collection sheet, students can do an optional community service project. The optional community service project must be completed by the end of the 12th week. As such a project takes a bit of planning, please review the optional community service learning project guidelines ASAP.
  
•  Review the Homefun on Fairy tales (although this is a graded homefun option, the second homefun sheet is not due until the end of week 11. You will have the choice of doing the homefun on fairy tales or the homefun on humor for your second homefun sheet.
• Take a short quiz on folktales
• Read pp 238--268
• Make your post to the Discussion Board.
