Catalog Description
An examination of women and their ideas, thoughts, and expressions,
both as major characters in literature and as writers themselves, from the
Middle Ages to the present. Emphasis will be on contrasting mythic
interpretations of what women are and think about with what women
themselves have written about their lives and interests. Short
stories, novels, journals, plays, and poems are studied in terms of the
literary elements used to reinforce the authors' themes. (AA, CSU,
