Geology of Mount Shasta introduces the tectonic setting, eruptive character, geologic history and potential hazards of Mount Shasta during two evening presentations and a one-day field trip. The field trip will give students opportunities to explore volcanic and glacial features on the flanks of this young volcanic peak, which geologists estimate has a one-in-ten chance of erupting during their lifetimes.
