Geology of Siskiyou County

An introduction to the geology of Siskiyou County consisting of five day-long field trips and accompanying classroom presentations. The classroom presentations will describe the county's geologic setting, recount its transformation from an ancient ocean basin to a land of young volcanoes, and outline the hazards that future geologic events may pose to this area. The field trips will afford students opportunities to explore geologic features across the county, from the gold fields of the Scott Valley to the lava tubes of the Medicine Lake Highlands.
