Environmental Geology
Environmental Geology explores humanity's interactions with the Earth.
The first part of this course examines how humans cope with geologic hazards
such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and floods. The second part looks at
how geologic resources such as soils, ores, and fossil fuels are formed and
how we deal with the pollution and waste that result from their use. The last
part considers land-use planning and the challenge of developing geologically
sound laws to guide future environmental decisions.
