Historical Geology/Lab
(CAN GEOL 4)
Historical Geology explores how Earth and the life it supports have
changed through time. The course draws upon geologic principles to understand
the planet's origin and the processes that have repeatedly modified the global
environment. It also reviews fossil evidence for the development of life on
Earth, and for the complementary roles of natural selection and environmental
change in shaping both ancient and modern living communities. Lab exercises
include studies of rocks, fossils, and regional geology, as well as two local
field trips.
