Geology of the Medicine Lake Volcano

An introduction to the geology of the Medicine Lake Volcano presented during two evening programs and a one-day field trip. The evening sessions will review the mountain's geologic setting, its eruptive history, the character of its eruptive products, and its potential hazards. The field trip will afford students an opportunity to explore a wide variety of volcanic features — from spatter cones to obsidian domes — on one of the largest volcanoes in the Cascades.
