IV. Required Textbooks/Materials: COS Student Handbook, Current COS Schedule of Classes.

You can either go to the school and pick up a copy of the handbook, the schedule of classes, and the catalog or access them when you need to using these links.

V. Course Description: This course includes information specific to the College of the Siskiyous and how to successfully navigate the college system. Students will be required to analyze and evaluate the applicability of programs, services, and policies to their overall educational goals as well as their success at COS.

VI. Student Learning Objectives:

1. Navigate the college system, by successfully conveying the steps to applying for financial aid and specific support services.

2. Navigate the system by successfully completing the registration process.

3. Evaluate the various academic, vocational, social, and support programs and how they can assist in their educational goals.

4. Convey the requirements for their specific educational goal.

VI. Grading: This course is a graded A-F class. There will be 170 possible points for the class.

C 129 -110
D 109 - 90
F 89 -

 

VII. Cheating Policy: If a student is found cheating on exams, quizzes, or assignments (handing in identical or very similar papers/projects), he or she will receive a zero, or "F" grade on the individual assignment and/or failing the course. Repeat offenders will be dropped from the course.

VIII. Make-Up Work: None accepted.

IX. Late Assignment Policy: None accepted.

X. Quizzes and Assignments: The following points are available for this class:

  • (8) Quizzes: 10 pts each
    • These are weekly quizzes that cover the information presented in the lectures and from the assigned links.
  • (8) Assignments: 10 pts each
    • These are weekly assignments designed to supplement the information from the lectures.

    (1) One class evaluation: 10 points
