Personal Assessment: The Ideal Mate

Directions: Describe the ideal mate for you in terms of his/her qualities and characteristics. After listing those qualities answer the questions below. Send answers to me at fontius@siskiyous.edu. This assignment is different than the previous assignments. After reading chapters 13 and 14 this assignment is designed to think about all the concepts that were covered in these two chapters and then critically look at one's own relationships.

1.         Generally, people seek to establish a committed relationship. What are some of the qualities that you look for in an "ideal" mate?

2.         Does this ideal mate represent qualities or characteristics found or not found in your parent of the same gender?

3.         Do you know anyone who possesses all of these qualities or characteristics?

4.         What will occur if you cannot find someone who possesses all of these qualities or characteristics?

5.          Do you feel you are the ideal mate for someone else? What qualities or characteristics do you feel you possess which make you just such a person? How many of these qualities appear on your list of qualities for your ideal mate?
