A survey of American history from pre-contact North America to 1877.
All History 1017 and History 1018 sections have a lab requirement.
The “lab” will consist of a combination of discussion activities and historical problem-solving activities. The goal of the lab is for the student to apply concepts learned in lecture in an environment where they can receive more one-on-one oversight and assistance from the instructor than is available in a typical lecture environment.
This is a fully online class using the Canvas learning management system. The College of the Siskiyous’ website has detailed information about Canvas. I encourage you to read this information before the first day of class.
This is a distance education course. A distance education course is more like a face-to-face class rather than a correspondence course. In this distance education class, there is a schedule with regular due dates for objective and subjective assignments throughout the term; weekly discussion board participation is a graded requirement to ensure regular and substantive contact. Students must access the class at least three days each week in order to regularly participate in class discussions, check for announcements, read and reply to private messages, send questions to the instructor, watch assigned videos and complete weekly graded assignments.
If this is your first time taking an online class, please read College of the Siskiyous’ Online Survival Guide.
I send messages to students through their @ins.siskiyous.edu email address. Make sure to regularly check this email account.
If you have questions about this class, please email the instructor at firstname.lastname@example.org.I answer emails within forty-eight hours (but usually within twenty-four hours), excluding weekends and holidays.
