MATH 56 is an introduction to algebra including properties of and operations on real numbers, linear equations, linear systems, exponents, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, radicals, quadratic equations, parabolas and variation.
This online version of elementary algebra is taught using state
of the art software by Plato Learning, applicable to all learning
styles. You need to have a computer with internet access. Be sure
that you have the correct system requirements by going to the following

Homework, quizzes, and discussion questions will be done online.
The mid-term and final exams will be written exams completed at
an approved testing center. You can view the full syllabus for this

Do not purchase your book until you have attended one of the
orientation sessions or communicated with your instructor! You
should plan on attending one of the following orientation sessions:
Tuesday Jan. 15
from 11 - 12 in the LRC computer lab or Wednesday Jan. 16 from 3:30 - 4:30 in
the LRC computer lab. If you have any questions you can email the
