Steps to take for receiving
Accommodations and Services
The Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) Department is the
campus office responsible for determining and providing required academic
accommodations for students with disabilities. In order for DSPS to
determine a student's eligibility for services, the following steps
need to be followed:

Step 1. Complete the Registration Process
Take the Compass (math and English assessment) exam.

If you need disability related accommodations to take the exam, contact
Counseling Services at 530 938-5555 or the DSPS Office at 530 938-5297.
Please allow at least 3 school days for coordination of the accommodation.

Note: Jaimie Dillard, DSPS Director, is also an Academic Advisor and is
available by appointment to assist you with enrolling in classes. Call (530) 938-5297.
Step 2. Verification of Disability
The DSPS Department must have verification of your disability before
you can receive accommodations/services. You may bring in current documentation
for your disability to the DSPS Office or provide the Office with the
name, address, phone and fax number of the verifying professional and
the DSPS office will request the necessary information.
Step 3. Complete the DSPS Registration Process
Set up an appointment with a DSPS staff member to assist you in completing
the required DSPS paperwork to become eligible for accommodations/services.

Step 4. Authorization for Services

Make an appointment with the DSPS Director to discuss your
disability related accommodation/service needs. At that meeting you,
if appropriate, you will receive an Authorization for Services/Accommodation
form indicating the services/accommodations you are approved for in
that semester.
Other considerations for students with disabilities
- If you are a Department of Rehabilitation client, make sure you
contact your counselor at least 4 weeks before school starts.
- If eligible, file for a Fee Waiver (Board of Governors Grant) to
waive your registration fees.
- If you plan to file for Financial Aid pick up an application at
the Financial Office or call (530) 938 - 5209.
- Other Financial Aid programs you may also qualify for are EOPS &
SSS. Call (530) - 938-5309 for more information.
