Text Box: Once you are accepted into the EOPS program, EOPS will provide you with services to help you with your academic needs.  Some of the services that may be provided are academic counseling/advising, book vouchers, starter kits, bus passes, tutoring, grants, and other miscellaneous items.  
What does the student have to do throughout the semester to receive these services?   1–  Attend an           orientation 2– Meet with a Counselor twice each semester 3– Check in for progress reports and at the end of the semester 4–  Maintain a term GPA of Text Box: 2.0 or greater and complete at least 50% of term units attempted.  
If you are a single parent on              CalWORKs or TANF and accepted into EOPS, apply for CARE. The program may be able to help you with child care costs, additional educational materials needed, and more.





Text Box: If you are interested in transferring to a four year college, then you can apply for Student Support Services.  This        program provides students with grants, cultural events, transfer counseling and application assistance, tours to four year colleges, and more.  If you are in both EOPS and SSS, then as long as you complete the requirements for EOPS, then you will have completed the requirements for SSS as well. 
Text Box: Don’t wait too long to get a tutor.  Get one as soon as you know that the class is going to be difficult for you and you are going to need help.
Counselors and Academic Advisors are here to help you through college.  The counselors on campus are Bruce Johnston, Sunny Greene, and Denis Hagarty in the Welcome Center, Val Roberts is the MESA Director, Jaimie Text Box: The Academic Success Center has a lot of resources to help you through college.  There are computer labs, math labs, writing labs, and reading labs.  You can show up to the labs during their open hours and work on your homework.  If you need help, someone will be there to answer your questions.  
If you need individual help in a specific class, then sign up to get a free tutor.  Text Box: Dillard is the  DSPS 
Director, and Kim Lopez or Kim Peacemaker if you are a student in EOPS and/or SSS.   The EOPS/CARE Coordinator and SSS  
Coordinator can help you with academic advising as well if you are in these programs.

Text Box: Take a look at the orientation dates for EOPS & SSS new and continuing students.  All EOPS & SSS students must attend an orientation to be eligible for services for the semester.  Also, the EOPS students will receive a book voucher at orientation.  Remember that continuing students will only get a full book voucher if they completed all 3 required contacts in Spring 2008.  Also continuing students who are on probation or disqualification will only get a book voucher after they have met with Kim Lopez to complete a contract.  All students will receive a starter kit.
