Important Financial Aid Disbursement Information: Financial Aid files completed by July 31 will receive funding in October.  Be sure to check your Navigator for additional Financial Aid information and disbursement dates!

Campus Closed for Labor Day Holiday:
The Weed and Yreka Campuses will be closed Monday, September 1.  Both campuses will reopen September 2.

Auditions for COS Fall Play Scheduled for September 2 and 3: Auditions for the COS Fall  Play, The Importance of Being Earnest will be held September 2 and 3 from 3 to 6PM on the main stage of the Kenneth Ford Theatre.  There are nine roles, 4 women and 5 men and many back stage jobs.  Those interested are asked to prepare, that is memorize and rehearse, a one to two minute comedic monologue from a play.  A sign up sheet for audition times is on the theatre call board in the Performing Arts Building hallway on the COS Weed Campus.  Rehearsals will begin September 11 and will be held Monday through Friday, 3 to 6PM until the week of the show when rehearsals move to evenings.  After being cast, students will need to enroll in THEA 1001.  Performances are scheduled November 7, 8, 13, 14, 15 and 16 in the COS Kenneth Ford Theater.  

COS Board of Trustees Monthly Meeting: The next COS Board of Trustees meeting will be held September 2 at the COS Weed Campus in the Board Room. A study session will begin at 4:30PM followed by closed session at 5PM and open public session at 6PM.

Senior College & Career Day: Monday, September 22 from 9AM to 1PM in the COS Gym. This annual event highlights COS academic programs, Siskiyou County career opportunities and representatives from other colleges and universities will be in attendance at this FREE event.

Community Invited to Meet the New President of COS: The community is invited to attend a FREE reception scheduled for Thursday, September 25 from 4 to 6PM at the Mt. Shasta Brewing Company (360 College Avenue, Weed) to meet Scotty Thomason, new COS Superintendent / President.  Light refreshments will be served.  Call to RSVP - 938-5373.

Tickets Available for Annual Scholarship Fundraising Event: Tickets for the 30th annual COS Foundation Scholarship Dinner and Dessert / Coat of Many Colors Auction are now on sale from the COS Public Relations & Foundation Office.  This fun event will be held on Saturday, October 4 at Sons of Italy Hall in Weed.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and a Tri Tip Steak and Barbecue Chicken buffet dinner catered by The Garden Party will be served at 6:45 p.m.  Other activities include the dessert auction, silent auction, and the Coat of Many Colors live auction.  All funds raised are used to support the COS Scholarship program and local students attending COS.  For more information or to purchase tickets contact the COS Foundation Office at 938-5373.

Calling all Crafters and Artisans: The 17th Annual Holiday Craft Fair will be held on Friday evening, December 5, 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, December 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the COS Weed Campus in the gymnasium.  This show celebrates the finest of hand-crafted products produced by local and regional artisans and crafters.  Vendor registrations are now being accepted.  For more information or to request a registration packet, call (530) 938-5373 or visit the Weed Campus Office Public Relations & Foundation Office.

Applications Available for SSS Program: The SSS Program application is available in hardcopy form from the Weed Campus SSS Office as well as online.  The Program offers a dedicated staff who are available to help with counseling, advising, progress follow-up, financial aid application assistance and numerous other services.

Free Success Seminars at COS - Every student heads into college with the intention of achieving his or her goals. To help you gain the skills necessary to achieve your goals, the Academic Success Center has developed a series of 50 minute seminars which will help you build skills and confidence in a variety of areas.  Success Seminars are offered during the fall and spring semesters.

Census Reports Now Available Online: Students can check their progress by logging into their Navigator account.  Select
your Student Tab and then the semester you want to view under your Student Grades channel to view academic progress.

Sign Up Today for AlertU: This is a free emergency notification system COS uses when notifying students and staff of emergency situations or campus closures. At the COS home page click on the Alert U button located at the bottom right of your screen then follow directions to sign up. 

Important Reminder for Students: To avoid being dropped from your classes, we encourage you to pay fees in full when enrolling or make payment arrangements by creating a contract with the COS Business Office.  Financial Aid can be considered when creating a contract to pay IF all required documents have been submitted to the Financial Aid Office. Stop by (or call 938-5310) the COS Business Office with any questions.

NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI) Offering Expanded Course Offerings at COS in Spring and Summer 2015: The College will offer classes during the Spring/Summer of 2015 through the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). See the NOLS WMI WEMT course schedule for more information.
