THE POSITION
The Board of Trustees of the Siskiyou Joint Community District invites applications for the position of Superintendent/President.
The Superintendent/President reports
to a seven-member elected Board of
Trustees. The Board is seeking an
individual who understands the
Challenges and Opportunities
described herein and has the personal
characteristics necessary to achieve
success as the educational leader of
the District.
THE COLLEGE
COS is a major influence in the
area and has a faculty and staff of
approximately 300, making it the third
largest employer in the county. The
College serves about 3,500 full- and part-time
students through comprehensive
transfer courses, employment-oriented
programs, and excellent student
services.
The Weed Campus, accessible from
Interstate 5 and Highway 97, is 60 miles
south of the Oregon border. A satellite
campus in Yreka is 30 miles north. The
College maintains twenty buildings
including a 600-seat theater, a distance
learning facility, science laboratories, a
television studio, a library, a football
stadium, vocational education labs, and
two residence halls. The College is widely
recognized for its excellent programs in
the humanities, arts, sciences,
technology, vocational education, and
athletics. Nursing, fire science technology,
a paramedic program, and welding are
four outstanding vocational programs.
The Yreka Campus has general purpose
classrooms, a computer lab, POST
certified training simulation classrooms,
and a fully equipped weight training
classroom.
