Mission

  1. The mission of the COS Mathematics Program is to provide a complete range of high quality mathematics courses taught by fully qualified mathematics instructors for transfer education, remedial education, vocational/occupational education, and associate degree and certificate programs including an associate degree mathematics major.
  2. The COS Mathematics Program supports the overall mission of the college by providing a mathematics curriculum that strengthens and enhances transfer education, remedial education, vocational/occupational education, certificate programs, and associate degree programs. The COS Mathematics Program supports economic development by providing local students a pathway to many careers, including math and science careers, as well as responding to the need to upgrade skills for local employment.
  3. Mathematics is needed for transfer, general education, certificates, and associate degrees in addition to being a required pre-requisite for several courses in many disciplines.
