Library Bulletin Board

 Use Guidelines

Because of space limitations, the COS Library bulletin board is a "controlled" information service of the Library. Only materials which have the permission of library staff are to be posted. Materials not receiving this permission will be removed. Placement of items on the bulletin board, or the substitution or removal of items will be determined by Library staff using the following guidelines:

Posters, fliers, or other announcements of dated events that may be of interest to library users will be posted.

Other information items determined by Library staff to be of interest to library users such as: COS news; local maps; hours, addresses or phone information of campus and community public services.

Specifically prohibited are campaign literature, commercial advertising and personal ads or personal communications. Materials deemed to be generally offensive to library users such as pornographic or libelous items are also excluded. Items too large for appropriate placement will be rejected.

If the acceptance or rejection of bulletin board materials is in question, the Library director will make the final determination based on the guidelines.

It should be kept in mind that there are other bulletin boards on campus which are open to the public for the display of a wide variety of materials.

No materials, other than directional signs and hours of Learning Resources Center offices and services, are to be placed in the gallery/foyer area or on front doors and windows. The purpose is to keep miscellaneous graphic materials from detracting from the appreciation of art items displayed in the gallery.
