 Yreka Campus

General

College of the Siskiyous students taking classes in Yreka or other locations outside of the main campus in Weed are entitled to the same library privileges and accept the same responsibilities as students in Weed.

All students should consider the COS Library in Weed as their primary source for information and library materials to successfully complete their course work. While other libraries may be more accessible to off-campus students, the COS Library focuses its collections and services on the requirements of classes offered by the College. Off-campus students with research assignments should plan to visit and use the resources of the COS Library as often as necessary.

Library Cards

Applications for a COS Library card are available in the administrative office of the Yreka Campus or online. Completed applications are sent to the main library. Library cards will then be mailed back to students. A COS Library card can only be used to check out materials from the COS Library. Students must obtain a public library card to borrow books from the Siskiyou County Library or its branches.

COS Library Online System

The COS Library online system allows you to search the COS Library catalog for holdings of books, magazines, newspapers and audio/video materials.  The "User Services" feature of the catalog allows you to renew materials, place requests, view materials checked out and their due dates.

Ordering COS Library Books or Other Materials

COS students in Yreka, who have a current library card, may request COS Library books or other materials by using the onlie catalog's User Services/Request feature or by telephone, fax or e-mail. If available, specific books, magazines, pamphlets or other items will be sent through the delivery to the Yreka Campus and may be picked up in the administrative office. Students must present identification when picking up materials.

Yreka Campus students are limited by the same restrictions, fines and due dates as Weed campus library borrowers. However, borrowed materials may be returned to the Yreka Campus by the due date.

Reserve Textbook Collection / Photocopier

A limited collection of textbooks and other assigned readings for Yreka campus classes is available for use in the administrative office only. Not all textbooks are available. A photocopier is also available to make copies.

Reference Assistance / Interlibrary Loan

Reference librarians at the COS Library are available to assist Yreka Campus students with their research.

Students at the Yreka Campus, who hold a current COS Library card, may also request the interlibrary loan of books and articles from other libraries.

For these services, contact the COS Library by telephone, fax, e-mail, or use the "Request" options in the online system.
