Kodo Kyoden Buddhist Temple ~ City Tour ~ Dinner
We went to Yokohama on July 7th, the culmination of Tanabata. Our hosts Amaso and Rinko Okano graciously showed us around the Buddhist temple and on-site school. It was a highlight for all of us to see the children enjoying their activities. After being told the story of the Weaving Goddess, we made Tanabata wishes and hung them on the tree. We had a delicious lunch presented beautifully in bento boxes. After lunch we had the opportunity to ask questions about contemporary Japanese culture. We then took a leisurely stroll along the waterfront and had dinner with the folks we talked with earlier.
