old-fashioned Japanese-style toilet

Modern toilets are called toire (Japanese pronunciation of "toilet") or o-tearai. Many toilets are ultra-modern with heated seats, bidets, blow driers, and even digital clocks. Real old-fashioned toilets are called asagao, such as the one we saw in the museum near Kanazawa.
