good-luck charms

Good-luck charms, also called o-mamori, are very popular in Japan and are sold at shrines and temples. They are often in the form of a small cloth bag (charm inside), sometimes with the name of the shrine or temple embroidered on the outside. Charms are used for successful childbirth, passing examinations, safe driving, and the like.
