There are many backcountry boarding, skiing, and snowshoeing spots available on Mount Shasta. Many local guidebooks, such as The Mt. Shasta Book by Andy Selters and Michael Zanger or Fifty Classic Backcountry Ski and Snowboard Summits in California: Mount Shasta to Mount Whitney by Paul Richins, Jr., provide information about hiking, climbing, skiing, or snowboarding on the mountain.
The Mt. Shasta Ski & Board Park also has a special place for cross-country adventures, the Cross Country Ski & Snowshoe Center.
The Center features 30 kilometers of groomed trails for beginners through advanced skiers or snowshoers. Amenities of the Center include shuttle service to the main ski park, rental equipment, a warming hut, picnic tables along several trails, and refreshments at the Nordic Lodge.
