I restarted my educational journey at COS in 1991 as a part-time student, receiving my Associate of Science Degree in Business Administration with an Accounting Certificate here in 1996. I continued at Southern Oregon University, finishing in 2002 with a Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology. I then worked for 3 years as a Lab Specialist on both the Weed and Yreka Campus. It feels like I've completed the circle and came home to be here now as an instructor. Since 2002 I have been working with groups and individuals in the area of Microenterprise Development. As both a counselor and trainer I have experienced the amazing entrepreneurial spirit that is a part of our community. Watching and helping this spirit grow is a joyful and satisfying experience. In May of 2007 I completed my Masters in Business Administration at California State University - Chico. The culmination of this degree was a 19 day trip to China as part of an International Business Studies Program. Although China's population of 1.4 billion dwarf's anything we see here in the US, being there showed me that this planet we call home is smaller than we think. We truly live in a time of narrowing social and business boundaries that require we learn to work and interact in new ways. I can think of nothing I'd rather be doing than participating in that process, both as a teacher and a student, here in Siskiyou County. |
