
I
have been a Physical Education/Health instructor at College of the Siskiyous
since 1975. Prior to coming to COS I was an Assistant Basketball
Coach and Lecturer in Physical Education at San Diego State University.
Besides teaching a variety of physical education, health and Guidance
classes, I have been the Men's Basketball Coach, Men's and Women's Tennis
Coach and Women's Head Volleyball Coach. I am currently the Women's
Volleyball Assistant Coach.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of
California at Berkeley. I was awarded a Master of Arts in Physical
Education from San Diego State University and have done advanced study at
Brigham Young University.
- ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERSHIPS: I belong to the State Community College
Organization of Physical Educators, California Association of Health,
Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, Faculty Association of California
Community Colleges and California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches
Association.
- SPECIAL RECOGNITION: I was selected to be a special presenter at the
National Convention for the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education,
Recreation and Dance, California Association for Health, Physical Education,
Recreation and Dance Conference and the Cal Poly, San Luis Obisbo Physical
Education Workshop.
- PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS: I served on the Task Force for
Developing Curriculum Standards for California Community College Physical
Education Programs, developed the COS Physical Assessment Lab and the
COS Outdoor Program, created a physical fitness video for the California
Conservation Corps, and developed a special course entitled the Psychology
and Physiology of Weight Management. Besides my regular teaching load
II am currently teaching a Health 10 internet
class
- PERSONAL: I own a small farm located in Edgewood
and have a 21 year old son, Daniel. He is a senior at UC Santa Barbara.
I also have a 20 year old daughter, Shannon, who is a junior at UC San
Diego. When I am not teaching, I love working on the farm, camping,
reading, traveling, fly fishing and running.
