Spring 2008 Writing Contest Guidelines
1. There are two contests: one for faculty and one for students. Each contest has two categories: fiction and poetry. Both of these categories are open to faculty and students. Participation in more than one category is permitted. Entries are limited to two works of fiction and two poems per author.
2. There will be first and second place winners and prizes for each category.
3. Topic is open in both fiction and poetry.
4. Poems must not exceed 100 lines and fiction must not exceed 2,500 words. All entries must be typed. Double-space fiction and single-space poems with double spacing at stanza breaks.
5. Author's name and contact information (phone and/or e-mail address) must be in the upper right-hand corner of the entry.
6. Drop entries off in the Writing Lab or email them to: writelab@siskiyous.edu as a Word document in an attachment. Label it as a writing contest entry.
7. All entries must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2008.
8. The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony. Winners have the option to read their stories or poems.
9. Winning entries will be posted on the Writing Lab website at: http://www.siskiyous.edu/writinglab/ as well as published in The Bear Trail Journal after the contest at: http://www.siskiyous.edu/writinglab/beartrail/beartrail.htm. |
