The Write Byte
Every fall, the staff and faculty of the Writing and Computer Labs publish The Write Byte, a newsletter that includes articles about various writing topics, as well as visual art, poems, short stories, and more.
The Bear Trail journal
The Bear Trail Journal is an art and literary magazine that showcases the work of talented COS students. Publication occurs annually in Spring.
Thank you to all in advance for your efforts in spreading the word and encouraging our COS students to participate in the college's literary journal. We will be accepting submissions for both writing and art until March 4, 2011.
Submission Guidelines:
- Email a maximum of five (5) poems; three (3) photographs, drawings, prints, or paintings; and/or two (2) works of prose (fiction or essay).
- Send a cover letter in the body of your email that includes your name, address, telephone number, email, the title(s) and type of work submitted, and a brief biography.
- Poems shall be no more than 40 lines in length. Prose shall be no more than 1500 words. All work shall be original and unpublished. Simultaneous submissions will be permitted if indicated in the cover letter.
- Type your name on the first page of manuscript. Subsequent pages should be numbered. Double-space fiction. Use a readable 12 pt. font such as Times New Roman or Courier. Email your manuscript as an attached Word document to beartrail@siskiyous.edu.
- Photographs, drawings, prints, or paintings should also be sent as an attached digital file with high resolution images (at least 400 dpi).
You will be notified by email if your work is accepted for publication.
