Add/Drop Classes

Adding and dropping can be completed at the Admissions and Records Offices at either the Weed or Yreka Campus or using our online mySiskiyous registration system. Add/drop forms are available on our Forms page or at either COS Campus. Adding and dropping may be completed using one of the following processes:

  • In person
  • Through mySiskiyous
  • By fax - (530) 938-5367
  • By mail - the postmark will be used as the official drop date

Adding

For Regular Semester Classes (16 week classes): Students are encouraged to register for classes prior to the beginning of the semester. If a student registers for a class after the first day of class, the following time limits and processes apply:

Time Periods for Adding Classes
Time Period Process
Week One A student may add a class with instructor approval (unless the class is closed).
Week Two/Three A student may add a class at the discretion of the instructor. (The instructor must sign the add form or give an add code)
Week Four A student may add a class after completing a late add permit which verifies attendance prior to week four and is signed by the instructor and the Dean of the department.

Note: The above timeline does not apply to summer session, winter intersession, short-term, and late-starting classes. Please check with Admissions and Records for appropriate dates.

Drop Dates

For Regular Semester Classes (16 week classes): The dates for dropping classes before receiving a "W" or a "Letter Grade" are as follows:

Week Three Last week to drop a class without posting a "W" on record. See Academic Calendar for more information regarding dates.
Week Twelve Last week to drop a class without a grade. See Academic Calendar for more information regarding dates.

Some students (EOPS/SSS and/or athletes) must have a counselor signature before dropping.
