The District is committed to equal opportunity in educational programs, employment, and all access to institutional programs and activities.

Siskiyou Joint Community College District, College of the Siskiyous is committed to a policy of non-discrimination in employment and education opportunity. In accordance with applicable Federal and State Law, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religious preference, age, disability (physical and mental), pregnancy (including pregnancy, childbirth, and medical conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth), gender identity, sexual orientation, genetics, military or veteran status or any other characteristic protected by applicable law in admission and access to, or treatment in employment, educational programs or activities at any of its campuses. College of the Siskiyous also prohibits harassment on any of these bases, including sexual harassment, as well as sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.

The President/Superintendent has established administrative procedures (AP3410, BP3410) that ensure all members of the college community can present complaints regarding alleged violations of this policy and have their complaints heard in accordance with the Title 5 regulations and those of other agencies that administer state and federal laws regarding nondiscrimination.

No District funds shall ever be used for membership, or for any participation involving financial payment or contribution on behalf of the District or any individual employed by or associated with it, to any private organization whose membership practices are discriminatory on the basis of national origin, immigration status, religion, age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, race, color, medical condition, genetic information, ancestry, sexual orientation, marital status, physical or mental disability, or because he/she/they is perceived to have one or more of the foregoing characteristics, or because of his/her/their association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Non-Discrimination Under Title IX

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs, including athletic programs, or activities that receive federal funding. Title IX covers non-discrimination based on sex or gender, sexual harassment and sexual assault, and program equity, such as athletics.

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

The Board of Trustees at College of the Siskiyous is committed to assuring student equity in educational programs and college services. The President/Superintendent establishes and implements a student equity plan that meets the Title 5 standards for such a plan. The Siskiyous Community College District has in place policies and procedures for Discrimination and Harassment Complaints and Investigations. These policies and procedures can be found on the College of the Siskiyous website.

College of the Siskiyous has designated a Title IX Coordinator(s) to monitor and oversee Title IX compliance. Your college Title IX Coordinator is available to explain and discuss: your right to file a complaint; the complaint process; how confidentiality is handled; available resources both on and off campus; and other related matters. Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs

Law Enforcement Academy

Before enrolling, students must meet the following minimum criteria: 1) Be at least 18 years of age. 2) Possess a valid driver's license. 3) Be free of any felony convictions or legal mandates that restrict or prohibit employment as a law enforcement officer or possession of a firearm. 4) Pass the Post Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLET-B) with a minimum score of 42. 5) Obtain Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan Firearms Clearance. Students shall obtain DOJ clearance prior to the first day of the academy. 6) Obtain medical clearance to ensure you can fully participate in academy training prior to the first day of the academy. https://www.siskiyous.edu/cte/adj/academy.htm

Paramedic Program

In order to be admitted to the Paramedic Program, students must be 18 years of age or older and be able to: 1) Submit proof of high school graduation or GED. 2) Obtain mandatory immunizations. 3) Provide documentation of current EMT and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Professional or meet title 22 certifications. 4) Be available to work day, night, or weekend shifts as scheduled during clinical internship. 5) Spend several additional hours per week beyond the scheduled class and lab time independently studying and practicing procedures. 6) Participate in an intensive field internship following the completion of EMS 0956, requiring 24-hour availability several times per week for 2-5 consecutive months. 7) Pass a physical examination or hold a current DL 51. 8) Purchase materials such as uniforms, books, manuals, supplies, insurance, internship materials, etc., totaling approximately $3,500. 9) Provide own transportation to College of the Siskiyous Weed Campus, hospitals, and ambulance companies throughout northern California. 10) Pass a background clearance and drug screen. Fire Fighter I Academy

Candidates for the Fire Academy are required to successfully pass a physical agility entrance exam or complete a CPAT test. Students need to be physically fit and should are required to provide a physician’s release prior to submitting to the physical agility test. Student activities involve field work requiring physical performance calling for above-average ability, endurance, and superior condition, including occasional demand for extraordinarily strenuous activities in emergencies, under adverse environmental conditions, and over extended periods of time; requires running, walking, difficult climbing, jumping, twisting, bending, and lifting over 25 pounds; pace of work is typically set by the emergency situation. Self-contained breathing apparatus will be worn in hazardous conditions while performing arduous physical work. https://www.siskiyous.edu/cte/fire/

Nursing – Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN)

Applicants to the LVN Program must meet pre-requisite and other degree requirements before application is submitted. Students must supply documentation that all requirements have been met. Official transcripts are required.
