Tutoring Services

Summer 2023

The ASC is proud to offer summer tutoring for registered COS students with the online tutoring service, TutorMe. Every COS student has access to 4 free hours of tutoring per week, with 24/7 availability. TutorMe can be accessed via your Canvas courses as follows:

• Log in to Canvas
• Choose TutorMe from the menu on the left side of the page

or

• Go to your Canvas course home page
• Select TutorMe from the menu on the left side of the page

Paper Review

Writing a strong academic paper is a skill that requires learning, practice, and support. If you would like feedback on an essay, research paper, or any writing assignment (either complete or in-progress) you can submit a paper for feedback via TutorMe, which can be accessed from your Canvas course menu bar. Simply follow these steps:

• Select the TutorMe link in the menu bar on the left of your Canvas page.
• Click on the green "Get Started" button.
• Select the green "Writing Lab: Get Writing Help" button.
• Click the green "I understand" button to drop off your paper.
• Next, enter a title for your paper along with your assignment and/or instructions for your tutor.
• Choose the style format and/or guide your paper needs to be in along with 3 specific areas you would like your tutor to focus on the most.
• Upload your paper in .docx format by browsing or dragging the file. Once uploaded, you will see the estimated time to complete your paper review. (In order to upload a file it must be 25MB or smaller, and the title must be 100 characters or fewer.) If you still have issues uploading your paper, please re-open your document in Microsoft Word and save it again as a .docx file.
• Click "submit." Your paper will be sent off to a TutorMe writing expert. You will receive feedback in 12 hours or less – even on the weekend!

Become a Paid Tutor

We need motivated and responsible tutors who meet these minimum qualifications:

• Current enrollment in 6+ units
• Grade of "A" or "B" and instructor's endorsement in courses you will tutor
• Enrollment and completion of Tutor Training (1-unit) course

Current pay is $15.50/hour. Download an application to be a tutor.
